Waka Hasegawa

Besides having established a successful career in an internationally acclaimed piano duo “Piano 4 Hands”  with the British pianist Joseph Tong, Waka has given solo recitals in numerous venues in the UK, America, Europe and Japan as well as broadcast performances on BBC Radio 3, the BBC World Service, andWFMT Radio Chicago.

As a chamber musician she has worked with players from the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. She has also worked with a number of contemporary composers, including Dai Fujikura, Nicola LeFanu, John McCabe, and Edwin Roxburgh.

Waka’s solo album, ‘Undiscovered Piano Works’ by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’ on the Metropolis/Naxos label, has attracted worldwide interest and has been played on Classic FM and a number of radio stations worldwide.

In addition to performing, Waka is passionate about teaching and has taught students of all ages and abilities in the UK and Japan. Most recently, in response to the corona virus emergency, she has adapted her studio for working online and now offers both workshops and Zoom online lessons.
